Website Development and Design
Good Design Practices
Your internet site is where your business exists — it’s just like the headquarters of an traditional company. Hence,
it is important to undertake good design principles to ensure your site reaches the maximum number of website visitors and sells to as many people as possible.
Ensure you have placed clear directions for navigation of your web site. The navigation menu ought to be uncluttered and concise in order that visitors know how to get around your website without confusion.
Reduce the number of pictures on your website. They can cause your site to load extremely slowly and more often than not they may be very unnecessary. If a section is too long, you need to split it into seperate paragraphs so that the textual content blocks will not be too large . Use scripting ‘languages’ to handle or adjust data, not to produce visual effects on your web site . If the website looks great with Internet Explorer but crashes horribly in Firefox and Opera, you will miss out on a lot of potential visitors. Avoid using scripting languages on your web site unless it is totally necessary. Heavy scripts will reduce the loading time of your website and even crash a few browsers. Also, scripts aren’t supported across all web browsers , so some visitors may well miss important information due to that. Use CSS to be able to style your page articles because they save a lot of work by styling almost all elements on your web site in one go.

Whenever you post a fresh blog, it is full of strong themes and data. In order to bring superior rankings in search engines, the contents of your blog should constantly be recent and so you need to update a great deal. How can you optimise the blog messages and sustain high rankings?
First and foremost the navigation system must make sense. There are two tiers running now, one the staunch old setup you see on Amazon where we always have left hand navigation and the newer sites that drop that after the first click. I’m not sure which I favor yet and it seems there is no way of knowing which one Google favors yet either.
Placing strategic images and graphics are key on a site but too much of this will reduce your loading times I agree. The balance of having them and not having them is a balancing act. Great information!

Your website provides an important line of communication with your clients and customers. It is often the first contact potential clients have with you, and may be the determining factor in who they choose to do business with.

With broadband I think optimizing for good download speed is often easily overlooked unless you are delivering to mobile. Nice post and important information to keep up on.
Web development and design is a great work, if web designer done the client wish design it is a good news for your expertise. But also, after a web developing, SEO should be next.
One other thing to use and keep in mind is the use of CSS sprites. This reduce the HTTP request from the browser to the server. If you have every singel image into the CSS sprite it will just generate one (1) HTTP request instead if you have 30 different images which will generate 30 HTTP requests.

I agree that cross-browser checking is really key these days. I always check in IE, Firefox and Chrome as these are the most used browsers. It can always be a suprise to see what looks fantastic in Firefox or Chrome is completely broken in IE and I have several versions of IE also as sometimes you can see your website display differently even between different IE versions…

Images are great on a site but you are 100% correct. So few people consider the fact that you still have to optimize images for the web and web browsers.

Thank you for creating this great website!! I believe that in website design, most of the internet users now prefer simplicity and efficiency just like Google. With the passage of time, Web designs are getting more and more mature, concentrating more on the content, efficiency and readability instead of colors and heavy graphics.
